Subject: 9560/Historic District/Ferger Place Date: Fri, 1 Mar 1991 16:31:00 -0500 ORDINANCE NO. 9560 AN ORDINANCE TO DESIGNATE FERGER PLACE, MORE PARTICULARLY DESCRIBED HEREIN, AS A LOCAL HISTORIC DISTRICT AND TO ADOPT THE FERGER PLACE DISTRICT SPECIFIC DESIGN GUIDELINES. __________________________ WHEREAS, it has been determined that there is a need to preserve and protect the historical, architectural, and cultural heritage of the Ferger Place Historic District, as outlined in the attached boundaries; and WHEREAS, on April 23, 1991, the Historic Zoning Commission by resolution recommended to the City Council of the City of Chattanooga that the Ferger Place area, more particularly described herein, be designated as a Local Historic District pursuant to the provisions of Tennessee Code Annotated A713-7-402, et seq.; and WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Chattanooga has reviewed the resolution and report of the Chattanooga Historic Zoning Commission and concurs in the findings of said Commission; and WHEREAS, the City Council has reviewed the Ferger Place District Specific Design Guidelines; 0C NOW, THEREFORE, SECTION 1. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHATTANOOGA, TENNESSEE, That the Ferger Place area be and is hereby designated as a Local Historic District, more particularly described as follows: Property located at 101-223 Morningside Drive, and 100-233 Eveningshade Drive, being on the southwest line of East Main Street northwest of Hawthorne Street. Lots A and B, lots 1-14, block 1, lots 1-6, 14-18, and area designated "Park", block 2, lots 1-28, block 5, lots 1-28, block 6, lots 1-14, block 9, lots 1-18, block 10, streets, and alleyways, Revised Plat of Ferger Place, as shown by plat of record in plat book 7, page 28, ROHC. Said lots, streets, and alleyways form one tract beginning on the southwest line of East Main Street 100 feet northwest of the intersection of the southwest line of East Main Street with the northwest line of Hawthorne Street, thence southwest some 1508.83 feet with the southeast line of an alleyway to the northeast line of East 19th Street, thence with East 19th Street northwest, southwest, northwest, northeast, and northwest some 836.5 feet to the northwest line of a 10 foot alleyway as shown on said plat, thence northeast some 1514.4 feet with said alleyway to the southwest line of East Main Street, thence southeast some 650 feet with East Main Street to the southeast line of an alleyway, the point of beginning. Tax Map No. 156B-B-1-22 and 24-35, and 156B-C-1-36. SECTION 2. BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED, That the Ferger Place District Specific Design Guidelines, attached hereto and incorporated herein by reference, be and are hereby adopted for the Ferger Place Local Historic District established herein. SECTION 3. BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED, That this Ordinance shall take effect two weeks from and after its passage, the public welfare requiring it.
